Becoming more aware of the issue of food insecurity and the need for family assistance in the area, our family began supporting the food shelf in the waiting room of BVHC to help our fellow patients.
Our thirteen-year-old granddaughter, Hannah, has been an active volunteer in her community in Connecticut throughout her young life. She supports organizations that help people in need, along with causes that support the environment and wildlife. She fits these activities into her already busy schedule of playing lacrosse and field hockey, maintaining an A+ academic record, and reading every book she can get her hands on. Her teachers remark on her leadership and desire to learn as well as her care for those around her – and everyone enjoys her dry sense of humor!
Nutritious foods, and some personal and home-use items, are available for anyone to take when they feel the need.
It is for these outstanding traits that we have chosen to honor her by renaming the food shelf, Hannah’s Pantry.
Hannah says, “I’m honored to be thought of in this light. I want to share my time and talents with those who can benefit from my efforts and urge others to do the same. You’re never too young to start.”
It is our hope that Hannah’s spirit of giving and caring is with you today and all the days ahead.
